Learners comments

I ask all my learners for feedback following one of my workshops.  Here is a small selection.

  • "Casual and sharing ideas."
  • "You made me feel welcome as soon as I arrived and your easy going nature put me at ease. The tutor and student focus was just right, you gave enough tuition to make me comfortable in having a go. Your guidance and background information is clear and informative without being overwhelming. You also allowed me to decide what I wanted from the session and gave me the opportunity to experiment".
  • "An excellent start to watercolour painting- preparation of paper, different techniques and a budding enthusiasm for this subject".
  • "I learnt more in the time with you than hours of trying to get a Calla Lilly to look half like one and a Fire Crest to not look like a Robin upside down!
  • "A knowledgeable tutor, with an easy to understand manner. It was relaxing."
  • "The combination of the tutorial/learning something new with the chance to work on some artwork of my choice."
  • "The tutorial - felt like I was reminded of things forgotten plus learned something new."
  • "I loved experimentation. It takes away the fear of having the brush in your hand and a blank page."
  • "I thought the two hrs was a great intro and provides a platform to build on"
  • "Thank you. It has given me confidence"
  • "I could write forever about the positive impact my lesson had on me. I felt that you and I could have a lot of fun in the future. I love to experiment, I have a curious mind and can’t wait to learn from you"
  • "Lovely friendly group. Very encouraging teacher - highly organised session"
  • "Not to panic! There is no right/wrong paint method"
  • "Lovely morning - brilliant for “switching off” which I find really difficult"
  • "Everything! I enjoyed rolling my brush to create trees. I liked using masking tape to create the woodland scene. I understood the effect of glazing and I enjoyed how finishing with ink made the watercolour pop."
  • "Friendly and fun atmosphere. Everyone helpful and supportive "
  • "Having an actual tutor, picking up tips, interacting."
  • "Mixing greens."
  • "How to mix watercolour paint, how few colours you need, the paper sorts, brushes used, wet on wet techniques, use of masking fluid, seeing how paint merges together on wet paper and many other things. I learnt masses"
  • "The range of colours can be mixed with primary’s."
  • "How to have fun, to let go and just mark paper with paint
  • "The colour wheel and how to apply it to paint".
  • "How effective masking out can be - along with lifting out and adding layers."
  • "I decided that if you could think of doing something - just try it and see what happens. A good idea is to keep a scrap book for reference."
  • "You're a super tutor, very patient and explained things well."
  • "Delicious coffee and nibbles"
  • "Thank you so much Jackie for all your help and advice . Also to your husband for the drinks and lovely cake "
  • "When is the next workshop please?"
  • "More colour mixing, using different brushes and their effects, glazing, using pen with ink, using masking tape, creating shade/shadow, taking colour out and using various mediums to create effects. "
  • "Quite a lot of different techniques. I realised I need to be patient with the paints and to be less critical of my efforts"
  • "Jackie’s friendly approach and the relaxed feel of the class. Clear explanations and fun applying it. Learnt a lot. The final outcome was a surprise that one had created something reasonable to look at"
  • "Blown away that I could turn up with literally nothing and be provided with everything I needed to enjoy the full experience of the workshop - and all clean and ready to use. I had such a good time.
  • "It will be a joy to gather some of my own materials as I progress but know that I will always have access to everything required for the specifics of a workshop if they are not already in my own toolbox."
